Stage Set for McGuire
Posted by southstander on February 03 2005 - 09:15:28

by Matthew Horton

Danny McGuire was yesterday declared fit and ready to play in the 2005 Carnegie World Club Challenge against the Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs at Elland Road on Friday night.

The stand off, who was withdrawn at half time during the London trial game, was passed fit to play after training with the squad all week.

Is the stage now set for his greatest moment?

Leeds have made two enforced changes from the Grand Final run on side, Andrew Dunemann comes in at hooker for Matt Diskin and Gareth Ellis for Dave Furner and one tactical change, Jamie Jones-Buchanan starts in the second row with Ali Lauitiiti dropping to the bench.

The Leeds team in full is;

1. Richard Mathers
2. Mark Calderwood
3. Chev Walker
4. Keith Senior
5. Marcus Bai
13. Kevin Sinfield
6. Danny McGuire
8. Ryan Bailey
14. Andrew Dunemann
15. Danny Ward
18. Jamie Jones-Buchanan
12. Chris McKenna
20. Gareth Ellis
7. Rob Burrow
11. Ali Lauitiiti
10. Barrie McDermott
16. Willie Poching

The Bulldogs main doubt, winger Trent Cutler has been passed fit to play and that means that ex-Leeds player Bradley Clyde will not make the starting 17 but will instead be named as 18th Man as Trevor Thurling will not recover from a hamstring injury picked up in training.

Tickets are still available for the match, but they will not be on sale at Headingley after 12pm today as all unsold tickets are being returned to the RFL. They will though, still be available from Elland Road. If you haven't got your ticket yet I can only ask one question. Why?
