2005 Sponsors List Senior Academy Player of the Season

Thanks to everyone who has voted on the message board in this season's Senior Academy Player of the Year vote. This years winner will hopefully follow in the footsteps of last years winner Lee Smith.

We bring you the results here.

Just a reminder that the nominees were Chris Buttery, Ashley Gibson, Luke Stenchion, Dave Tootill, Jordan Tansey and Danny Williams.

So in reverse order...

With three votes each were Luke Stenchion and the Shooting Star Danny Williams. Next on the list with 7 votes was Players Player of the Year Jordan Tansey.

In third place was the Coaching Staff's player of the year - Chris Buttery with 15 votes. It's been a magnificent season for Chris and that has been recognised already.

In second place was Dave Tootill with 20 votes. Dave has had a fantastic season and since returning from a loan spell at Oldham was a major factor in the teams continued success.

But this years winner with just under 50% of the votes was Ashley Gibson. A memorable First Grade debut at Leigh in August and an outstanding season for the Senior Academy. 27 tries, 106 goals and 320 points, its been a significant contribution to the Grand Final winning team.

Ashley will receive the Senior Academy Trophy, along with the first team winner, at a special 'SouthStander Sponsors night some time before the start of next season. Sponsors, keep your eyes peeled for details.
