Rhinos Dead Rubber

Dead Rubber
Move along...nothing to see here.

Has there ever been a more meaningless game, excepting this weekends match-up between the Broncos and the Bulls?

The only interesting aspect to Friday nights trip to Hull FC was whether Big Mac would go with his best play-off side or whether he'd give them all a week off and send the Academy side to play in such a meaningless game.

We preview the game, read more here...

Big Mac has decided that his side need a morale boost and has therefore opted for a full strength nineteen which includes McGuire and Burrow, both of whom could play if declared fit before kick-off.

Jimmy Keinhorst, after playing well against the Saints, retains his place in for the still suspended Joel Moon and Zak Hardaker is still in the side despite the longest running RFL inquiry into a single word that there has ever been. The full ninteen is; Hardaker, Watkins, Hall, McGuire, Burrow, Leuluai, Aiton, Peacock, Jones-Buchanan, Ablett, Sinfield, S Ward, Delaney, Bailey, Achurch, Briscoe, Sutcliffe, Keinhorst, and Singleton.

It's a nineteen which should be too strong for a Hull FC side who could, if results go right for them, make it to ninth but who are currently just clear of the drop zone in twelfth.

Radford names a nineteen of; Bowden, Colbon, Cunningham, Ellis, Green, Hadley, Heremaia, Horne, Houghton, Lineham, Logan, Paea, Rankin, Talanoa, Thompson, Watts, Westerman, Yeaman, and Abdull.

This will be the thirty-eighth regular round meeting since the start of the summer era and the Rhinos have been victorious on twenty-six occasions, including the last meeting between the sides when Leeds won 20-6 at Headingley earlier this year. Hull have won just ten times but were victorious for the last two Rhinos visits to the KC Stadium winning by 6-18 in 2013 and by 20-34 in 2012. One game has been drawn. Prediction
FC 12 20 Rhinos

The bookies have given FC an eight point start on the coupon and given the side that was named I think that is pretty fair. I'd predicted a Hull win by eight when I put the Superleague previews together yesterday at a time when I suspected that McDermott would name an Academy nineteen. I'd like to revise and reverse that now to an eight point Leeds win, and an end to our losing streak of four consecutive Superleague games.

The forecast for tomorrow is quite pleasant. Early afternoon rain clearing for an evening with broken sunshine and temperatures in the late teens.

Travel safe and enjoy the game.
