rhinoms Superleague XVIII Previews - Round 4 & WCC
Posted by southstander on February 20 2013 - 15:08:43

The eyes of the World will be on a sold-out Headingley on Friday night as the Rhinos defend their World Champions crown against the Melbourne Storm.

If it had passed you by, there are also six Superleague games taking place over the weekend, but most of them look as though they could be one-sided affairs.

Lets hope that the one at Headingley isn't.

Read more here....

For 12 of the SL clubs this week is RD4 of the regular season but for the reigning Champs they get the chance to compete in their sixth WCC.

Here are this weeks previews.

The first chance of silverware is on offer at HQ on friday night when the Blue 'n' Amber take on the NRL champs the Melbourne Storm.

Make no mistake the aussies are here to win and have world class talent in pivotal roles who can tear teams apart.

For the home team we have to be 100% at it from the 1st whistle and nothing less will get the job done.

As it stands we are at 1-1 having met twice before the most recent was at ER in 2010 when Silverwood pipped cameron Smith as the Storms m.o.m.

Expect a fierce battle across the park and with 1 or 2 injuries for the home side selection could prove crucial.

We've had some great battles in these events over recent years non more so against this weeks opponents.

It really is building into a genuine rivalry with some old wounds and scores to settle but for me home advantage should just be enough but brace yourselves for a belter.

After destroying Cas last time out the hosts will be super confident when the stuttering Saints arrive at Odslum.

The visitors are really struggling to get their mojo under new coach Brown and have managed just one win and a draw three games in which include a good pasting against the Giants.

This will be closer than some think but at some point the visitors will start to click and i think they'll show some positive signs here.

The hosts do look a well organised and useful side but this is their first real test and i think they'll just fall short.

A decent game in prospect but Robys influence should just be enough to get the 2 points for the away side.

The hosts will be boosted by their never say die approach at Saints last week when they earned a hard fought draw after been 10 points behind.

The Wire arrive unbeaten and determined to get back to a GF but they are without Morley and Westwood and still not firing 100%.

This should be an entertaining game with both attacks capable of points but its the visitors defence where i think the game will be won.

The hosts will battle and threaten but they don't have enough defensively to get the win for me.

Another defeat in store for the "shoulder-less" hosts as they welcome top four contenders the Dragons.

The visitors will be boosted by the return of the "General" Dereau which will offset the ban to Brent Webb.

The hosts showed exactly where they are in the pecking order last week when getting pasted by the Dulls.

Millward missed the irony when whinging about the late hit (no ban btw) by Scruton on replacement HB O'Brien but in all honesty his team was well beaten.

The visitors should have enough upfront to blunt the Tiggers claws and out wide they will outclass their hosts.

The worse team in the league welcome HKR this week and will get the weekly pasting we've become accustomed to so why SKY have chosen this game is beyond belief.

Salford will grind but HKR have far too much in their team for the hosts to make a game of it.

A pretty tough game in store for the 100% Giants as they travel to the Puddy Cats.

The hosts put a good performance together last week darn sarff when nilling the Nags.

It will be vital for the hosts th=at their pack can contain the Giants go forward who as always at this time of year are eating up the ground.

I think it will be a competitive game but the halves and Lunt at 9 give the visitors the edge.

Another sacrificial lamb for the Pies as is usually the case after a loss.

Whether Rat boy plays or not the visitors dont have enough firepower or resolve to get the win here.

it should be a pretty straight forward win for the hosts and another post match with "Wane telling the world" how good they are zzzzzzz.

If you are travelling to a game have a safe journey and enjoy the action.

If you are attending HQ for WCC its a sell out so make allowances to get there early and sing yer hearts out for the lads.

P.S Thanks for reading.
