rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - Round 25
Posted by southstander on August 16 2012 - 09:56:48

by rhinoms

Just three more rounds of Superleague, punctuated by a weekends break (for some) for the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final.

Round 24 predictions started so well for our two pundits with SouthStander.com getting four from four of the friday/saturday fixtures and rhinoms getting three out of four, including the correct scoreline difference in the Giants game.

Sunday was, however, a different story with shocks for Hull FC and Wakefield seeing Southstander with zero from three, and rhinoms just managing one correct with his prediction of a Broncos win over the sorry Tigers.

Read more here....

This week we enter Round 25 and the race is getting tighter for play off places with third to eighth still undecided plus the resurgent Broncos are going to ensure the wooden spoon will go to the end of the season.

Here are this weeks previews.

BRONCOS v. WOLVES

After winning the hardest back to back fixtures in SL against ST's and the Pies respectively TS takes his Wolf pack south to face the Nags.

The hosts are finally showing some kick in their performances after securing back to back wins and proving that a decent coach can make a difference.

With the Cup final a week away and the last couple of fixtures id expect TS to rotate his side but they do have depth and quality to do so.

I think Rea will have his team fired up and much more organised but the Wire are on a roll and have far too much quality to stumble here.

SAINTS v. TIGERS

After losing two on the bounce playing Sheriff Basils bunch of jokers is just what the plastic scousers needed.

The visitors will be hoping the score stays below seventy because they fast becoming the worse team in SL for quite a while.

A walk over for the hosts and a chance to rack up their points difference and tightening their grip on third.

DRAGONS v. RHINOS

After an easy home win the Champs head to the south of France to face the stuttering Dragons.

The loss of Mcguire is a huge blow and some would be tempted to rest their key men but Mc has stated that isn't an option this week.

The hosts however have hit a blip and are losing games many thought they'd win but they are still a tough team to beat on their own patch.

This could go either way and we got a good hiding here last year but I think the lads will be focussed 100% on getting the job done and getting out of there.

A tough bruising encounter but the Rhinos focus and resolve should secure the points.

VIKINGS v. FC

After last week the hosts will be desperate to regroup and have a decent performance at home.

Gentle takes his reef pretenders west hoping to keep up their winning run before the play offs start.

Stick a fork in Widnes they are done for this year and this will be a training run for the Cods.

GIANTS v. BULLS

The hosts have recaptured their winning form at just the right time and will expect to carry that on when their under-siege skint rivals arrive in town.

For the dulls they haven't given hope of making the top 8 but i think there's more chance of the OSV and the coaches and players getting a win bonus.

A tough game in prospect and the visitors wont just give up but the hosts just have too much quality.

KR v. WILDCATS

Along with Wire ,Wakey are the Form team of the SL at the moment and they take that momentum into the Red half of Cods-Ville this week.

The hosts are getting into winning positions within close games but they can't seem to finish the job.

This will be and end to end battle with both desperate to get that 8th spot.

The HB match up between Dobson and Smith be the deciding factor in this and for Smith takes it on form.

WARRIORS v. REDS

Another sacrificial lamb for the Pies this week when the shot to pieces Reds arrive at the Pie-Dome.

It will be easy and a "love in" for the headline writers to knock one out over Rat-Boy, Hock of the dead, and not a whinge from Wane in sight.
