The Damo Bit - 17th May 2011

by DAMO-LEEDS

It's great to be back to winning ways and Damo has a special way to celebrate.

Does anyone else study the match photos as closely as our weekly columnist?

One of the highlights of my week comes about when the photos from the last match are posted on the SouthStander.com front page. In particular I like the celebratory ones which showcase the joy etched across the faces of our heroes. This has us weak at the knees and punching the air in jubilation at the mere sight of such bliss. The photography that catches these moments every week is absolute astonishing and I feel that itís time to give them more acknowledgement.

So grab yourself a box of tissues, sit in a comfortable position and try to embrace the emotion that will overcome you as I tap into your subconscious mind with these images. You will come away from this article more relaxed, calmer and self-assured than ever that we have the best rugby league team that has ever graced the lush Headingley turf we call heaven in these parts of the internets.

Thereís an old chinese proverb that tells 'one picture tells a thousand words'. In this picture alone little red riding hood is enjoying her escape from the three bears. Thereís a fella whose licking what little is left of the tomato ketchup on his index finger. Former Liverpool FC coach Rafael BenŪtez for whatever is reason doesnít seem remotely interested in the commotion thatís happening nearest to him. Whatever he is looking at will forever remain a mystery to those who have an eager eye for detail in photos such as this.

The Rhinoís players on the other hand are in such jubilant mood. Ryan Hall in particular seems to be finding pleasure where the sun doesnít shine thanks to some attention from the camera man behind him. Rob Burrow on the other hand looks to have missed Ryan Hallís high five by inches. The girl in the corner of the photo is laughing at his struggle to reach for such a height. Jamie Jones Buchananís and Danny Buderus contribution to this celebration is a bit too random for my liking.

My conclusion is that this set of players like to work hard and party harder. This celebration certainly justified the 30 - 06 victory over the Catalan Dragons last Friday. Long may these shenanigans continue to be a part of this season as we slowly but surely edge towards victory at Old Trafford.

Brotherly love is the subject of this next photo. It was taken in simpler times when Scott Donald was on the wing and Brian McClennan was the man in charge. It certainly wasnít the complex affair that weíve reluctantly got used to this season. The reason why Burrow is so terrified in this picture is because of the big hit Johnnie Walker put on Luke Burgess. Peacock also went off injured in this game meaning that Scotty was the only father figure Robbie could turn for comfort. It does worry me who heíll turn to if Peacock ever gets injured again.

Anyhow itís enough of my perspectives and insights for now as Iím sure you all have imaginations of your own. So enjoy my pick of pictures below and I look forward to some of your interpretations of the pictures. Once again Iíd like to say a big thank you to RLphotos for providing these splendid images that bring joy to the uses of this website!
